I’m a professional bagpiper based in Whately, Massachusetts, with over 15 years of experience performing, teaching, and leading in the piping community. I started learning the bagpipes at age ten, studying under Adam Holdaway, and quickly found my place in the Stuart Highland Pipe Band of Wilmington, MA, where I’ve played ever since and have served as pipe major since 2018. Pipe majors are responsible for the overall sound of the band, leading rehearsals, instructing players, and making sure the band is ready for any competition or performance. I am also a member of The Commonwealth Pipes and Drums of Melrose, MA.

I have performed across the United States, Canada, and Scotland, having made many trips to the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow. I hold a degree in Music Education from UMass Amherst and spent several years as a public school band director, working with students from grades 5 through 12.

In addition to playing at weddings, funerals, and events across New England and parts of New York, I offer private instruction to pipers of all levels, from chanter fundamentals to advanced repertoire. Whether I’m performing or teaching, I care deeply about sound, expression, and honoring the moment with music that’s steady, tuned, and full of feeling.

FAQs

Should I have a bagpiper at my event?

Yes, of course! Having a piper at your event is a great way to celebrate your Scottish/Irish heritage. Even if you aren't Scottish or Irish, incorporating pipes at your event ensures your family, friends, and guests remember your event for years to come!

How much does it cost to hire a piper?

Rates vary depending on the event and travel distance. Most funeral services range from $200–$400. Weddings and other events are typically $400–$600. I’m always happy to provide a quote tailored to your needs.

How far do you travel?

I travel within roughly 120 miles of Whately, Massachusetts, and regularly perform across New England, including MA, CT, RI, VT, NH, ME, and parts of NY, like Albany, the Hudson Valley, and Westchester County.

What if you're already booked?

If I’m unavailable, I’ll reach out to trusted pipers in my network to help you find someone with the right experience and sound. I never leave people hanging.

What do you wear when you perform?

I wear full traditional Highland dress: kilt, jacket, tie, sporran, hose, flashes, ghillie brogues, and glengarry. I currently have the Royal Stewart, Macbeth Modern, and County Galway tartans available—just let me know if you have a preference.
